Cledan Valley
Mid Wales
If you are looking for a perfect holiday experience with memories to cherish you are at the right place. Come and visit our LLamas and Alpacas in Powys, Mid Wales.
Llamas
Meet our charming trio of Cledan Valley Llamas: Nora, Sally, and Kiara.
Originating from the vast plains of North America, llamas embarked on a remarkable journey southward to the Andes approximately three million years ago. Fast forward to around 5,000 years ago, humans began their companionship with these majestic creatures, marking the dawn of llama domestication.
Llamas are typically categorized into two main types: Ccara and Tampuli, each with their own unique traits and characteristics.
Here in the UK, the llama population is thriving, with estimates exceeding well over 5,000 individuals.
Alpacas
Introducing our delightful trio of Cledan Valley Alpacas: Gracie, Tracie, and Ginnie.
Gracie, a proud mother-to-be, is expecting her second baby and happens to be Tracie’s devoted mother.
Ginnie, although a tad grumpy at times, adds her own unique charm to the group.
In contrast to their larger cousins, llamas, alpacas are petite in size and were not bred for labor but rather for their exquisite fiber. Renowned for its softness and warmth, alpaca fiber is utilized in crafting knitted and woven items, akin to traditional sheep’s wool.
Alpacas are masters of non-verbal communication, with their primary form being spitting, a display of dominance or distress when feeling uneasy or agitated.
